We Will Never Forget

Why the lessons of 9/11 are even more important five years later.

The week after 9/11 our churches were full, the stock market took a nosedive and we were a nation at war against the terrorists that struck at us on our turf. Where are we now?

Terrorist strikes have been thwarted recently and the market dropped suddenly, but within a weeks time we were back to full strength. Our local and national economy is thriving. As long as it does not happen on our soil, we will turn away from the problems of the past and move on. The mortgage and college tuition must be paid, the house needs new siding, the car is getting rust spots, the list goes on. We have to plan for the next 5 year's business expansion plan with AMD coming into our vicinity. We have to make time, but for what?

Do you remember where you were when the terrorists hit the World Trade Center and Pentagon? Do you remember how the churches were full and people were praying for our nation and for those who lost loved ones? Do you remember how your priorities changed for that very short time period towards taking more precious care of your loved ones, and your schedule was not all work, work, work, family second and God somewhere at the end of your to-do list?

I thank God for our dedicated government officials and troops who are fighting the battle overseas, so that we won't have to fight terrorists on our soil. So take time to enjoy your loved ones as if it were your last day on this earth. Enjoy your life and be thankful that you were born in our powerful and prosperous nation. You must endeavor to persevere no matter what your problem or handicap. For those who have more, then give more to your fellow man. Don't just write a check, give time or take a moment to help someone in need. Reach out to those who are not as blessed as you. Spend more quality time with your family and friends. Take time to enjoy your God given freedom.
