The Factory Eatery

The Factory is a wonderful family restaurant/sports bar on Prospect Street in Ballston Spa where you can't help but have a good time. As the name implies, The Factory is located in a refurbished chocolate factory. The place definitely has character. The dining room is a mix of chairs and booths with wonderful Native American fabric upholstered backs. There is a section of the dining partitioned off by a partial wooden wall. It can be used for functions and has a beautiful working fireplace and a gorgeous large antique mirror adorning the brick wall.
The sports bar is awesome with eight televisions, local sports memorabilia and a game or two. The same beautiful booths in the dining room line the walls of the sports bar. The manager gave us a tour of the second floor, where there is a vast, beautiful room with a large bar that acts as their speak easy. The look of it took me back to some of my favorite 30's gangster movies. It is impeccably redone and seemed to be a great place to throw a party.
And now for the $64,000 question - how was the food? I am happy to report it was very good. We started with a bowl of kettle chips and a bacon and potato bisque along with a house salad of mixed greens with a balsamic vinaigrette. The soup was smooth, creamy and very nicely seasoned. The salad was delightful with black olives, red onions, cucumbers and tomatoes.
For our entrees we tried two of the evening specials: chicken marsala over fettucine and shrimp fra diavolo. My chicken marsala was very nicely prepared with a light sauce, herbs and seasonings. The shrimp fra diavolo had a tasty red sauce and was spicy without being overpowering. You could very much enjoy the flavor of the shrimp and Italian sausage which were included in the dish. We decided to forgo dessert as we are trying to watch our waistlines
The Factory serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, has a varied menu, is moderately priced, family friendly, and has a fun and comfortable atmosphere. Our food and service were excellent. I strongly recommend you try it out.
