I wonder how many of our readers know about the treasure we have tucked away in our own backyard, The Jonesville Store. It's fresh, funky and chic all at the same time. The building has been beautifully renovated with great attention given to every detail.
The Jonesville Store is a phenomenal place that offers gourmet foods and beverages downstairs and a gift boutique upstairs that carries unique and tasteful items from pottery to jewelry, children's things, bodyworks and home dcor. Everything is select. There were many lovely things that caught my eye. Some of their jewelry is even crafted by local people and, as a certified gemologist (yes I really am), I found the quality of their jewelry to be exceptional. When you purchase items from certain lines they carry, a percentage is donated to local charities.
Their downstairs space is a delight, with a gourmet deli case with the most beautiful looking meat dishes, salads of all kinds, quiches, crab cakes, shrimp cakes and risotto cakes all being made fresh daily all day by their four talented chefs. Right next to their deli case is their dessert case. I don't know if I've ever seen so many decadent delights all at once. Each one of is of the highest quality using only the finest ingredients. Some are made by local bakers, others are brought in from Manhattan, and yet others are imported from Italy. Allow me to list just a few: chocolate raspberry fondant, lemon curd on a pastry shell with pine nuts and almonds, chocolate ganache cheesecake, ultimate carrot cake, key lime pie, fruit tarts and on and on; I do not have the space to list them all. For a girl with a sweet tooth like mine it was a truly heavenly sight. They have another case with their breakfast goodies, again baked daily. You name it muffins, scones, pastries, they even serve Starbuck's coffee.
After all of my looking I had to do some tasting. I had a sampling of many different dishes and they were each incredible, from the wild rice salad to the crab cakes loaded with crabmeat, grilled salmon topped with a cucumber oniai relish, gazpacho soup, and more. Each thing I ate was better than the next. WOW! I had to try one of their luscious desserts. I decided on the chocolate cake with coconut buttercream frosting (real buttercream). It was divine, every bit as good as it looked.
Jonesville also offers wonderful gourmet foods, cheeses, jams, crackers, chocolates etc., many of them imported, and lovely seating areas to dine both in and out.
If you have not been to The Jonesville Store yet you absolutely need to get there. Once you go you will go back again and again.
