Are you looking for a new place to eat? A place where you can take the entire family and feel right at home? If so, you need to try one of Sonny's restaurants. He has three locations, Malta, Burnt Hills and Stillwater, so chances are there is a Sonny's near you.

I dined at the Sonny's in Malta, their original restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you know you're in a local family restaurant. Sonny's has a folksy, homespun look, which creates a very comfortable feeling. The dining room is relaxed and casual, with some nice touches, including faux finished walls reminiscent of Tuscany, and two small wall fountains. Sonny's is also very clean. I have heard through the grapevine that Sonny's two new restaurants are quite lovely.

You probably guessed it, Sonny's serves Italian fare. They offer pizza, subs, wraps, wings, pasta, antipasto, soup and Italian dinners. There are even a few seafood options. I have enjoyed Sonny's pizza, veal parmigana, and hamburger on separate occasions, and everything was very good. Bob Furlani, the proprietor of Sonny's, will tell you that serving consistently good food is what Sonny's is all about. In fact, Bob's official mission statement is, "our goal is to make you happy." Bob does a great job of making his mission statement a reality.

Sonny's has quite a following. The few times I've dined at Sonny's, the tables were always packed with happy diners even on off nights. That doesn't just happen. Sonny's has many, many loyal patrons that are obviously very happy with the food, service and moderate prices. Their desserts are brought in from J.S. Watkins, and are out of this world. The only dessert they make in house is their famous rice pudding. I've had the pleasure of trying it, and I assure you it is delicious. It is not runny like some rice puddings, but has a thicker consistency, exactly how I like it. From what I understand, the rice pudding is an old family recipe, just like Sonny's famous tomato sauce.

You truly need to plan an evening out with the entire family and enjoy a wonderful meal in Sonny's friendly, warm atmosphere. You'll thank me for it!
